a lively spirit.

An April warm-up match v a tough Shrewsbury School saw
us fail to win by just 2 runs; our end-game batting was to be
our downfall in later matches too! However the two one-day
games in Whit week v Warwickshire Under 14’s proved to be
an experiment well worth repetition - low cost but high value.
We then braced ourselves for the ECB National U15 50
over series which became deadly serious as we aimed to
head our 8 game pool - Bucks, Leics, Worcs and Wales
played home and away. What dismay then to be rained off v
both Bucks and Worcs and to suffer the ignominy of losing to
Wales twice! Having comfortably defeated Worcs at Portland
Road we then were 5 runs short in the away leg; from the
jaws of success….
It was fortuitous that we had three friendlies to conclude
our season. It’s always a joy to defeat Yorkshire and the boys
put on a scintillating performance. Less demanding was a
comfortable defeat of Herts at Merchant Taylors and finally we
hosted London Schools at Kenilworth and posted a huge 289
for 2 with Ben Griffin hitting 103 and Aarib Khan 120 - and
then it rained!
Played 14 Won 7 Lost 4 Abandoned 3 was a tolerable
record. George Garrett captained soundly and the boys
generally impressed in the field. Ben Griffin (U14) was
fast-tracked and was a splendid keeper whilst Dan Mousley,
