County Representative Girls
the weather intervened. The Staffordshire game was called
off without a ball bowled. Staffordshire came up trumps
in re-arranging this on the last day of the league season,
but it also fell immediately after five of our girls had been
involved in a very hardworking ECB development week and
we were also without our bigger hitting bats. We managed
only a disappointing 69 which Staffs soon overtook leaving
us second in the league. In the remaining t20 an effort was
made to allow all the girls available in our squad a game.
Firstly a good win over Herefordshire by 9 wickets then the
rain appeared again finishing our season off!
All the girls worked very hard with the youngest members
of the squad outstanding -Isabelle Wong (20 wickets) and
Grace Ballinger (21 wickets) worked marvels with the ball.
They were aided by the spin of Emily Farmer and both
Isabelle and Emily took 5 wicket hauls. In the batting
Ria Fackrell scored a big century 131* and amassed 326
runs with captain Tiarna and the Godfrey twins providing
excellent runs as well.
All in all, a very good season with the potential of the
girls showing on many occasions, however circumstances
seemed to be against us at times thwarting our chances of
being champions.
Warwickshire Under 17
The U17 girls began their season with two convincing wins
in the first round of the t20 tournament, against Oxfordshire
and Buckinghamshire at Bicester and North Oxfordshire
CC. Notable early season performances included fifties for
Georgia Davis and Amy Weir, and a five wicket haul for
Katie Stanislas.
After exams, the 45 over competition games started in
earnest. Staffordshire were the girls first opponents, and
saw the first victory of the season, bowling the opposition
out for just 46. Later that week saw the first real test, against
Shropshire, but some excellent bowling at the death by
Misha Patel made it two wins out of two.
The following week, and also the hottest week of the
year, saw the girls play Monday, Wednesday and Friday
against Staffordshire, Oxfordshire then Leicestershire. Again
Warwickshire convincingly beat Staffordshire, with
Jess Crawley bringing up her 50 to win the game. The
Oxfordshire game at Walmley CC saw a fantastic innings
by skipper Amy Weir, scoring her debut century and ending
the innings 104 not out. A fantastic all round bowling display
from the Warwickshire girls followed to ensure another victory.
The Friday game against Leicestershire saw a number of the
Warwickshire top order contribute 20s and 30s with the bat,
and the total of 178-8 was just too much for Leicestershire,
and they finished on 150 all out. The girls were now on 5 wins
from 5 and had a fighting chance of qualifying for finals day.
Next came another nail biter against Shropshire at
Portland Road. Warwickshire were put into bat and wickets
fell steadily throughout the rain-affected innings, leaving the
Under 17 Girls Squad
Amy Weir on her way to debut century
Georgia Davis on the attack
