County Representative Boys
27 July v Oxfordshire at Rugby CC
Abandoned
A week of heavy rain meant the game was called off due
to ground conditions.
2 August v Shropshire at Willey CC
Warwickshire 160/9
Shropshire 151/7
Won
by 9 runs
Willey CC is a superb venue on the edge of a country
estate and the game matched the surroundings. Our score
of 160 looked to be below par. It would have been worse
without a frenetic tenth wicket partnership of 36 from James
Bristow 13* and William Mobberley 21*. Shropshire were well
in control until a telling spell from Hayden Froggatt 3-15 and
tight control from Kaash Patel in the closing overs restricted
the home side. Our best fielding performance to date and a
good allround team effort.
18 August v Staffordshire at Edgbaston Foundation
Ground
Warwickshire 335/2
Staffordshire 172
Won
by 163 runs
An excellent pitch at our new Foundation ground and
winning the toss allowed us to score 335 a record for 13b
teams. An exceptional second wicket unbeaten partnership
of 222 runs from Griegan French 162* (a season best by any
age group player) and Suyash Poshakwale 102* was the
match winner. It was pleasing how the partnership developed
from careful accumulation to controlled acceleration then
outright dominance. Staffs were never in the hunt with
Fahad Sabir again bowling well with 4- 38.
24 August v Derbyshire at Denby CC
Derbyshire 120/7
Warwickshire 121/1
Won
by 9 wickets
In a game reduced to 30 overs due to a forecast of rain
Derbyshire posted a modest 120. After the loss of an early
wicket an unbeaten partnership of 101 from Kaash Patel 74*
and James Bristow 29* saw us home with plenty to spare.
Summary
A very successful season not only in results but also in
player development. A very strong squad, who practiced
hard, listened and learned, and used the responsibility they
were given by the coach. The team ethic was good as is
proved by winning the 3 games that were close contests.
Thanks to Coleshill, Nuneaton and Rugby cricket clubs for
hosting games, and parents David Bland and
Sunil Poshakwale for scoring.
Warwickshire Under 14
The Warwickshire U14’s played in the Royal London
Boys U14 County Cup. Fixtures included Northamptonshire,
Leicestershire, Hertfordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire,
Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire and Staffordshire.
This season, we warmed up with a two matches against
the WCCC U15 squad. Other cricket involved games against
the U14 squad at Yorkshire and England U19 Women.
v Northamptonshire at Wollaston CC
Warwickshire 117
Northamptonshire 102
Nervous start to the season, a good bowling performance
by Northants meant that Warwickshire had to come together
as a team and perform which they did. Great spells of
bowling from Abdullah Mughal partnered with Seth Westley
provided the response that was needed. Coupled with a
strong belief in themselves a nail biting finish was provided,
there are not many games that are won with 117 on the
board.
v Leicestershire at Leicester Grammar School
Warwickshire 196 for 8 45 Overs
Northamptonshire 175 for 9 45 Overs
Contributions by all batsmen with Sahal Malvernkar top
scoring with 44. Sahal also returned figures of 3-23 off 6
overs to help defend 196. Other contributors with wickets
