County Representative Boys
v Yorkshire at Pudsey Congs CC
Warwickshire 179-7
Yorkshire 137
Won
by 42 runs
The Under 12s bounced back with a battling team
performance against a strong Yorkshire side. Captain
Tommy Rex‘s 43 was the backbone of the innings with solid
support from Harvey Rogers-Collen 21 and an excellent 8th
wicket partnership between Yasin Khan 29* and
Callum Herron 22* gave the innings much needed impetus
in the last few overs. Yorkshire made a spirited reply but lost
wickets at crucial points. Plain 4-27. Rex 3-24 and Balaji
3-21 all bowled with distinction to earn Warwickshire a well-
deserved victory.
v Middlesex at Kenilworth CC
Middlesex 190-7
Warwickshire 191-7
Won
by 3 wickets
Warwickshire worked hard to restrict Middlesex to 191 in
their 45 overs. Ben Jones 2-15 was the pick of the bowlers. In
reply the game looked to be slipping away until an excellent
partnership between Tommy Rex 52 and Dan Bevan 69. It
was left to Buchanan and Afzal to complete the innings with
4 balls to spare.
v Leicestershire and Rutland at Ratcliffe College
Warwickshire 172
Leicestershire and Rutland 106
Won
by 70 runs
After a poor start with some careless batting,
Alfie Blundell 51 and Yasin Khan 31 rescued a faltering
innings with a crucial 9th wicket partnership. Batting with
great responsibility they put on 83 to give respectable total
of 172.
The Warwickshire attack again bowled in good areas
and with Harvey Rogers-Collen returning figures of 4-18,
Leicestershire were all out 54 runs short.

This was a very successful week’s cricket with Under 12s
winning the Festival’s main competition and also winning
their group’s Twenty 20 competition. Additionally Ethan Plain
picked up the Festival Bowling Award and Daniel Bevan
was voted the Wicketkeeper of the Festival.
In the group games the Under 12s got off to a flying
start by defeating Cheshire by 8 wickets. Tommy Rex 3-29
made early inroads before Ethan Plain ripped through
Cheshire’s middle order with 4-24. Dan Bevan claimed 5
victims. Callum Herron 50 and Roshan Balaji 67* knocked
off the runs in good style. Comfortable victories against
Hertfordshire and Huntingdonshire earned the Under 12s a
place in the final. Notable performances included
Sachin Dubb’s 3-11 against Herefordshire as well as the
batting of Mo Talukder 78 and Tommy Rex 59* against
Hunts.
In the final, Staffordshire were mesmerized by the leg
spin of Ethan Plain whose 7-14 will last long in the memory.
Their total of 104 proved to be inadequate as Herron 22
Talukder 34* and Balaji 35* put Warwickshire through as
worthy winners of the tournament.
In the Twenty 20 competition the Under 12s defeated
Derbyshire thanks to some hard hitting from Kieron
Buchanan 27, Dan Bevan 31 and Sachin Dubb 28 as well
as some fine medium paced bowling from
Abhinash Nirantharakumar 2-11. In the Group A final, the
Under 12s beat Shropshire in a tense affair. Chasing only
95, Shropshire’s opening pair put on 39 in the first four
overs before the Warwickshire bowlers showed how to
bowl line and length to starve the opposition batsmen.
Plain bowled his 4 overs for just 1 run and was supported
by excellent fielding including a spectacular run out from a
direct hit from the boundary by Nirantharakumar.
