Winners 2015: Derbyshire
YORKSHIRE v WARWICKSHIRE 2nd XI at York CC, 20th July
2015
Yorkshire 214 (48.4 overs) 2 points beat Warwickshire 166
(39.5 overs) 0 points by 48 runs
Winning the toss, Yorkshire batted first at York, as
Warwickshire looked to end a losing run in the competition,
but a strong start saw the home side reach 141-2 before
the introduction of the Warwickshire spinners checked their
progress.
Josh Poysden 4-39 and Ateeq Javid 3-21 helped reduce
Yorkshire to 156-8 with six wickets falling for just fifteen runs,
before a ninth wicket partnership of thirty and a last wicket of
twenty eight helped lift the final total to 214 in the forty ninth
over.
Again, Warwickshire lost early wickets and were quickly in
trouble on 32-4, before Peter McKay and Aaron Thomason 38
looked to be leading a recovery, but the loss of four wickets for
just seventeen in the final power-play left Warwickshire once
again falling short of their target, as they were dismissed for
166 in the fortieth over. McKay finished unbeaten on forty nine,
while Mark Fisher took 5-35 to help Yorkshire to a forty eight
run victory.
WARWICKSHIRE v WORCESTERSHIRE 2nd XI at Olton and
West Warwicks CC, 11th August 2015
Warwickshire 341-8 (50 overs) 0 points lost to Worcestershire
395-7 (50 overs) 2 points by 54 runs
In their final 50 over match of the season Warwickshire won
the toss at Olton and chose to bowl against a strong looking
Worcestershire side, who then posted fifty four for the first
wicket before a good catch by Coleman removed Kohler-
Cadmore off Phagura.
Oliver 82 and Kervezee 102 then put the Warwickshire
bowlers to the sword, with George Rhodes also completing a
century, 101 and Dickenson 45* helping Worcestershire record
their highest ever total in fifty over cricket, 395-7 with Phagura
3-64 the most successful bowler for Warwickshire.
In reply and facing a daunting task, Warwickshire opened
with a half century partnership, but despite Umeed 89,
Coleman 77 and Banks 61 all making half centuries, they were
unable to overhaul the huge target set by their opponents for
whom Russell returned 3-68, as Worcestershire recorded a
fifty four run victory, in what was Warwickshire’s final fifty over
match of the season.
