WARWICKSHIRE 2nd XI v LEICESTERSHIRE 2nd XI at
Moseley CC, 22-24th June 2015
Warwickshire 139 and 244-4 (6 points) drew with
Leicestershire 483-6 dec. and 139-9 dec. (13 points)
It was a long day in the field on the opening day if three at
Moseley C.C. after Warwickshire skipper Coleman lost the toss
and were asked to bowl first.
A century opening partnership between Kurtz 58 and
Marshall 72 was finally broken in the afternoon session by
Hannon-Dalby and a smart piece of fielding from Porterfield
accounted for former Worcestershire batsman Pinner soon
afterwards. Marshall was finally out in the fifty fifth over to Adair,
but then a rapid partnership of 169 from just thirty five overs
took Leicestershire towards 400 with Ali making 78, while
Redfern was unbeaten at stumps on 115 with wicketkeeper
Burgess 42 as Leicestershire closing the opening day on 415-
4 from 104 overs.
An additional concern for Warwickshire was the absence of
Milnes after bowling just a single over at the start of the innings.
On the second morning, Leicestershire batted on for
fourteen overs adding a further sixty eight runs before
declaring on 483-6 after Redfern was out for 132 and Burgess
65. Hannon-Dalby 2-97 and Adair 2-125 were the most
successful bowlers.
When Warwickshire began their reply the Leicestershire
bowlers managed to find something extra as a string of
experienced batsmen went cheaply. Westwood and Porterfield
failed to score and Javid 8 quickly followed, while Hain’s first
innings since injury brought just thirty before Warwickshire
were bowled out for just 139 in less than 48 overs. Wyatt 3-17
was Leicestershire’s most successful bowler.
Rather than enforce the follow-on, Leicestershire chose to
bat again and quickly made 134-9 from thirty four overs with
Poysden taking 3-39 and Burgess top scoring on sixty three,
before declaring, setting Warwickshire a target of 479 for
victory in a little more than a day’s play.
In the four remaining overs in the day, Warwickshire were
14-0 at stumps.
On the final day. Westwood went for twelve in the fourteenth
over bowled by Chappell, before a partnership of 122 between
Porterfield 58 and Javid in forty three overs effectively secured
the eventual draw as the only real outcome to the match.
Porterfield’s fifty eight came off 145 balls and once he had
gone, Hain made forty two from 62 deliveries before being
stumped off Pinner.
Javid completed his century, and despite Coleman going
cheaply in the eighty second over, the players shook hands
four overs later with Warwickshire still 235 short of their target
and Leicestershire still needing six wickets for victory. Javid
closed unbeaten on 109.

YORKSHIRE 2nd XI v WARWICKSHIRE 2nd XI at Harrogate
CC, 21-23rd July 2015
Yorkshire 230 and 190-9 dec. (9 points) lost to Warwickshire
85 and 244-4 (20 points)
Yorkshire won the toss at Harrogate and batted first after a
short delay for rain.
Opener Callis was soon lbw to Adair bringing Australian,
Glen Maxwell to the wicket to join wicketkeeper Hodd who was
then run out by Thomason for twenty five.
Thomason and Adair then removed the Yorkshire middle-
order batsmen leaving the home side on 106-5 in the twenty
third over before Maxwell fell, again to Thomason for seventy
seven off sixty nine deliveries.
Thompson 61 and Carver 24 then helped lift Yorkshire to
a final total of 230 in the fifty ninth over with Thomason 3-50,
Brookes 2-18, Adair 2-38 and Milnes 2-80 taking the wickets
for Warwickshire.
In reply, Umeed and Thomason were dismissed without
scoring, while Lambert, Coleman and Webb all fell in single
figures as Warwickshire were left reeling on 30-5 in the
eighteenth over and as wickets continued to fall, only Banks
16, Milnes 30 and Banton 21 reached double figures before
being bowled out for just eighty five, avoiding a possible follow-
on by four runs. Fisher 4-23 was Yorkshire’s most successful
bowler.
Another century for Coleman
