WORCESTERSHIRE 2nd XI v WARWICKSHIRE 2nd XI at
Kidderminster, 16th June 2015
Match 1 Worcestershire 225-4 (20 overs) 2 points beat
Warwickshire 214-5 (20 overs) 0 points by 11 runs
After winning the toss and fielding, Warwickshire quickly
picked up the wicket of Kohler-Cadmore but then found the
other opening batsman Brett D’Oliveira to be in tremendous
form as he smashed the attack for six sixes and six fours on
his way to an unbeaten century from fifty three deliveries. He
added sixty five with Kervezee 39 for the second wicket and
with useful support from Whitely 24, Barnard and Choudhry
he helped the home side reach an impressive 225-4 from
their twenty overs.
Needing in excess of eleven an over for victory, Lewis
and Webb got the reply off to a strong start, before Webb
13 was out bringing Porterfield to join Lewis and the second
wicket pair added 102 from the next ten overs before
Porterfield 53 from 27 balls was dismissed.
Lewis completed his century but was immediately out for
101 from sixty balls including six sixes, while Warwickshire
still needed thirty three from sixteen balls.
Russell kept a tight rein for Worcestershire with the
wickets of Coleman and Thomason in the final over leaving
before completing his over with just two runs coming off his
final three balls as Worcestershire ran out winners by eleven
runs.
Match 2 Worcestershire 185-2 (18.2 overs) 2 points beat
Warwickshire 184-4 (20 overs) 0 points by 8 wickets
In the second match, Warwickshire won the toss again
but chose to bat and with Chopra opening, making 73
from forty three balls with three sixes, made 184-4 from
their twenty overs. Lewis and Porterfield went cheaply,
but Coleman 48 and Webb 40* added some late innings
impetus to the innings.
In reply, Worcestershire like Warwickshire earlier, lost
their first match centurion D’Oliveira, quickly, but Kohler-
Cadmore and Kervezee, scoring at ten per over helped
Worcestershire race to 119 before Webb made the next
breakthrough, dismissing Kervezee 65 in the twelfth over.
Whitely joined Kohler-Cadmore and immediately struck
two sixes to maintain the momentum as Worcestershire
closed in on their second victory of the day which they
finally achieved with ten balls to spare, claiming an eight
wicket victory with Kohler-Cadmore 79* and Whitely 35*
