WORCESTERSHIRE 2nd XI v WARWICKSHIRE 2nd XI at the
Royal Grammar School, Worcester, 11-13th August 2015
Worcestershire 287 (8.5 points) drew with Warwickshire 390-4
(12.5 points)
Worcestershire won the toss and batted at the Royal
Grammar School and quickly lost Rhodes and Dickinson to
Adair’s bowling, before Kervezee 67 and Dell 15 added fifty
eight in twelve overs before Phagura removed Dell.
Kervezee soon followed as Singh picked up two wickets in
three deliveries, before Worcestershire lost wickets either side
of lunch to be 191-9 in the forty ninth over.
A last wicket partnership of ninety six between Twohig 32*
and Russell 60, then held Warwickshire up before Umeed,
skippering the side, removed Russell with his first delivery to
bowl the home side out for 287 in the seventy third over.
Adair 4-63 and Singh 3-72 were the pick of the Warwickshire
bowlers.
By stumps on the opening day, Warwickshire had replied
with 79-3 after openers Umeed and Banks had each been
dismissed for a single and Pollock 21 was out just before the
close.
Resuming on the second morning, Mellor 32 was the sole
wicket to fall on the second day as both Hain and
Matthew Lamb completed centuries in their unbroken
partnership of 277 in seventy overs.
At the close Warwickshire were 390-3 with a lead of 103
and Hain unbeaten on 176 from 299 deliveries and Lamb 146
from 217.
Rain prevented any further play on the final day and the
match was abandoned as a draw just after lunch.

There was time for one over by when Yorkshire at 5-0 held a
lead of 150 at the close.
Rain prevented any early play on the second morning but
in a day reduced to sixty overs, Yorkshire struggled in their
second innings against some accurate bowling from Adair,
Milnes and Panayi who wiped away the top half of the order for
just one hundred and six.
Singh 2-35 removed Waite to a Webb catch after he had
top scored with thirty two, before the innings closed on 190-9
declared, setting Warwickshire a stiff target of 336 for victory on
the final day. By stumps they were ten without loss.
Umeed and Lambert made a positive start to the third
morning, before Umeed was bowled by Fisher for twenty one
and Lambert 31, followed soon after, bringing skipper
Freddie Coleman and Jonathan Webb together to build a third
wicket partnership of two hundred and six from forty three
overs until Coleman was dismissed off the final delivery before
tea for 118 with eighteen fours and three sixes.
Three balls later, Webb 92, followed, without adding to his
tea-time score, leaving Warwickshire still requiring sixty four
for victory, which was achieved after the loss of two more
batsmen, Banks and Banton, curtesy of Thomason 24* and
Adair 20* with an unbroken partnership of forty five to bring
Warwickshire a victory over Yorkshire by four wickets.

There was time for just twenty four overs on the opening day
after Warwickshire won the toss and chose to field in their final
Second Eleven Championship match of the season against
Derbyshire at Coventry and Warwickshire C.C. before the
rain that had ruined the two previous County Championship
matches involving Warwickshire, returned once again to bring
the 2015 season to a disappointing end.
George Sellars and Tom Steele had started well for the
visitors posting an unbeaten first wicket partnership of seventy
seven before play was suspended and with ever worsening
conditions.
