Second XI 2015 Season Review by Tony Frost Second XI Coach
competition helped him gain his opportunity to play and
showcase his skills for the 1st XI in the NatWest Blast t20
competition.
50 Over Competition
The 50 over competition proved to be a comp too far for
us this year. As a team we didn’t do our selves justice at
all. That’s not to say there wasn’t some very good personal
performances because there were, it’s just we didn’t click
as a team, recognise key moments in the game and win
those moments. We finished 1 above bottom but I feel we
didn’t do our talent justice even though at times we were
young and inexperienced. The lesson that our young team
would have learnt along this journey will hopefully hold them
in good stead for next year.
Some of the standout performances for the competition
were:
- Freddie Coleman’s 105 against Derby
- Andy Umeed (94) and Jonathan Trott (114)
partnership of 199 against Notts
- Liam Banks 61 making his first fifty for the club at the
age of 16
- Mark Adair taking 4-19 off 8 against the Unicorns
- Brinder Phagura’s 4-36 against Notts at Coventry
- Ateeq Javid’s 3-21 and Josh Poysden’s 4-39 against
Yorkshire
- Tom Milne’s 3-25 against Notts
Conclusion
I would like to say a big thank you to all the clubs and
officials that have helped out throughout the year, without
your kind help and generosity we wouldn’t be able to run
the 2nd XI as smoothly as we do.
I would also like to say the biggest thank you to Keith
Cook, the man behind the scenes who makes the cricket
department, a lot easier and I know the place wouldn’t run
as well without him. Cookie you are a Legend.
Congratulation to the new lads who have been offered

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Tom
Milnes, Tom Lewis and Peter McKay all the best for the
future as they have left us for pastures new. Once a Bear
always a Bear, you guys are always welcome to pop in at
any time, just bring some coffee.
As I pointed out last year, my memory is shocking so if
I have missed anyone off or forgot to say thank you I do
apologise, it’s a work on for me.
