Milestones for the 2015 Season
PARTNERSHIPS
The 7 first-class century partnerships made in 2015 compares with
18 in 2014 and 25 in 2013.
2015 was the first time in the history of Warwickshire first-class
cricket that they failed to achieve a first-class century partnership for
any of the first three wickets.
7 first-class century partnerships is the fewest in a season since
1956 and these are the two fewest since 1923.
The partnership of 98 between S Hain and T Ambrose for
the fifth wicket v Durham at Chester-le-Street was the highest for
Warwickshire v Durham in Durham beating the previous record of
96 between A Loudon and I Trott on the same ground in 2006.
In the same match M Stoneman and S Borthwick’s second
wicket partnership of 153 for Durham, equalled the record for that
wicket against Warwickshire by Durham set in 2010 at Edgbaston,
by G Muchall and M Stoneman and beat the record at Chester-le-
Street of 62 between S Borthwick and K Jennings.
Also the ninth wicket partnership of 48 between J Harrison and
C Rushworth for Durham beat the old Durham record of 43 at home
against Warwickshire, previously set by G Onions and M Wood at
Chester-le-Street in 2013.
L Evans and T Ambrose’s partnership of 327 for the sixth wicket
against Sussex at Edgbaston was a new record for that wicket
against any county home or away, beating the previous record
of 226 between T Ambrose and J Troughton v Worcestershire at
Worcester in 2007.
The partnership was a record against Sussex for the 6th
wicket on any ground beating the 145 between G Hogg and I Bell
at Horsham in 2004 and beating the record against Sussex at
Edgbaston of 132 between R Clarke and I Bell in 2014.
In the same match, C Nash and L Wright’s fourth wicket
stand of 166 was a new record for Sussex against Warwickshire
in Warwickshire, beating the previous record of 146 set in 1937
between G Cox and J Langridge at Edgbaston.
In a match of records, B Brown and Ashar Zaidi’s sixth
wicket partnership of 191 was a new record for Sussex against
Warwickshire on any ground, beating the previous record of 163
between L Wells and O Rayner at Arundel in 2011.
L Evans and J Patel’s eighth wicket partnership of 166 against
Somerset at Taunton was a record for that wicket against the county
on any ground, beating the 110 at Taunton in 2011 between
A Botha and C Woakes and the record at Edgbaston of 116 in 1949
between A Wolton and C Grove.
For Somerset, M Leach and J Overton’s 61 for the final wicket
was a new Somerset record against Warwickshire at Taunton,
beating the previous record of 55 set by J Watson and W Luckes
in 1933.
M Carberry and J Vince’s second wicket partnership of 180
for Hampshire at Southampton was a new record in Hampshire,
beating the previous record of 152 set by D Turner and C Smith at
Southampton in 1984.
W Rankin and C Wright shared an unbeaten partnership of 114*
against Worcestershire at Edgbaston and in doing established
a new record against that county beating the previous record of
96* between P Holloway and A Donald. This partnership also saw
Rankin record a maiden first=class half century.
S Mullaney and A Hales’ second wicket partnership of
257 for Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge was a new record for
Nottinghamshire against Warwickshire on any ground, beating the
old record of 205 between B Bolus and B Hassan at Edgbaston in
1970 and the previous record at Trent Bridge of 195 between
P Johnson (RH) N Astle and M Dowman in 1997.
The partnership of 191 between M Pettini and T Westley for
Essex at Chelmsford was a new Essex record for the first wicket
against Warwickshire in 50 limited over cricket on any ground.
V Chopra and I Trott’s second wicket unbroken partnership of
157 at Edgbaston was a new record in limited overs cricket for
Warwickshire against Glamorgan home or away, whilst in the same
match D Salter and M Hogan’s last wicket partnership of 22 was a
new record for Glamorgan against Warwickshire.
At Edgbaston, L Dawson and W Smith’s 123 for the fifth wicket
was a new Hampshire record partnership in limited overs cricket
against Warwickshire.
Ateeq Javid and W Porterfield’s sixth wicket partnership of 81
against Sussex at Rugby School was a new record for that wicket
on any ground for Warwickshire against Sussex in limited overs
cricket.
In the NatWest t20 Blast, V Chopra and B McCullum’s opening
partnership of 160 against Derbyshire at Edgbaston was the
highest partnership for any wicket in the club’s history of t20 cricket,
while R Clarke and A Javid’s partnership of 93 for the fifth wicket
against Northamptonshire too, was a Club record for that wicket
against any opposition.
Against Durham at Chester-le-Street I Bell and V Chopra set a
new t20 opening partnership record against Durham of 52 while in
the same match I Bell and W Porterfield’s 92 for the second wicket
was also a new t20 record against Durham.
In the t20 match against Derbyshire at Edgbaston Derbyshire
set three new records with partnerships of 26 for the sixth wicket
and fourteen for both the ninth and tenth wickets beating previous
records in matches between the two sides.
Lancashire’s t20 fifth and sixth wickets set new record
partnerships with 41 and 50 respectively in the match at Edgbaston
while at Old Trafford, new records were set for the third and eighth
wickets with partnerships of 27 and 15.
W Porterfield and T Ambrose posted a new t20 record third
wicket partnership of 80 against Leicestershire at Edgbaston and in
the same match N O’Brien and Umar Akmal replied with a record
unbroken fourth wicket stand of 93.
At Grace Road, R Clarke and Ateeq Javid set a new sixth wicket
record against Leicestershire of 25 while in the same match
M Cosgrove and M Elliott added a new record 65 for the third
wicket in Leicestershire’s innings.
Against Nottinghamshire at Edgbaston, I Bell and W Porterfield’s
partnership of 67 for the second wicket was a new record, while in
the fixture at Trent Bridge, V Chopra and T Ambrose added 42 for
the third wicket while Chopra with L Evans then added 77 for the
fifth wicket, another record against Nottinghamshire. In the same
match A Hales and S Patel’s unbroken third wicket partnership of
63 was a new record for the hosts.
At Worcester, R Clarke and L Evans added 68 for the fifth wicket
while Clarke and Ateeq Javid’s unbroken partnership of 45 for the
sixth wicket was another new record against Worcestershire. In the
corresponding match at Edgbaston, the ninth wicket pair of J Leach
and S Senanayake added a new record 18 for the ninth wicket for
Worcestershire.
At Edgbaston, T Ambrose added 51 for the third wicket with
W Porterfield and 66 for the fourth with L Evans against Yorkshire
while at Edgbaston new records were set with a partnership of 30
for the eighth wicket between Ateeq Javid and R Gordon and 10 for
the tenth between Javid and J Poysden.
In the same matches, at Edgbaston, A Finch and J Leaning
put on 43 for the fifth wicket while Leaning and T Bresnan added a
record 39 for the sixth wicket and at Headingley A Lees and
J Leaning posted a partnership of 104 to establish new records for
Yorkshire.
In the t20 quarter-final at Edgbaston against Essex, four new
partnership records were set for the Bears with V Chopra and
W Porterfield making 30 for the second wicket, R Clarke and
L Evans 28 for the fourth, Evans and C Woakes 69 for the fifth and
Woakes with Ateeq Javid sharing an unbroken sixth wicket stand
of 32.
In the same match, for Essex, T Westley and R Bopara’s 56 for
the third wicket was a new record for Essex against the Bears.
MILESTONES AND HIGHLIGHTS
Warwickshire’s 612-6 dec. against Sussex at Edgbaston was their
highest total at home against Sussex in first-class cricket.
Sussex 601-6 dec at Edgbaston was their highest total in first-
class cricket against Warwickshire on any ground.
Nottinghamshire’s 600 at Trent Bridge was their highest total
against Warwickshire in Nottinghamshire.
